The Years are Short

‘The days are long but the years are short’. I came across this saying from American author Gretchen Rubin.

I try to remind myself of it regularly.

It’s resonating with me particularly at the moment because my youngest daughter is in her last GCSE year. She’s already thinking and talking about sixth form and university. I know from experience with my other children that that time will fly past.

I want to stay present, make the most of our time together now.

Gretchen has written a number of books including my favourite, The Happiness Project.

She also made a touching short film (below) which explains why she realised that ‘the days are long but the years are short’.
