Today I learnt something new about mindfulness and me.
I’ve been aware and interested in the idea of mindfulness for a while now.
But I realised today I’ve aways put it in the ‘personal’ category. I’ve not thought about it in a work context.
Strange. A bit daft really.
Mindfulness is about being aware of thoughts and feelings in the moment. Appreciating the present.
And that comes easily when I’m relaxed, walking in the fresh air, or sitting quietly.
But today it suddenly dawned on me. It doesn’t even occur to me when I’m working on particularly mundane admin type work. In fact I sometimes become almost robot like. Focused on getting the stuff done.
Not taking time to appreciate the moment.
Which of course I should, whatever I’m doing.
