In 10 days I get to soak up the atmosphere and watch my first Ironman in sunny South of France.
This particular Ironman is one of the toughest.
2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, 26.2 mile marathon.
2000 competitors swimming in the Med then tackling the mountains behind Nice followed by a hot, flat, fast run course along the seafront.
Apart from a good excuse (as if one is needed) to spend a long weekend in Nice. We’re going to cheer on my coach Amy who has been training hard for this all year.
But an added bonus is that the amazing Lance Armstrong will be there. He’s taking part in his first full distance Ironman, hoping to qualify for the World Ironman Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
Not content with winning the Tour de France 7 times (not forgetting that he has also overcome cancer along the way), he has now won both the Florida and Hawaii Ironman 70.3. Will he do the same with the full Ironman distance in Nice?
Can’t wait to find out!
